To provide administrative support to the onsite IT team throughout the end-to-end support process for internal and external requirements. 

This roel will best suit an individual who is looking for a first role in IT - learning on the job and upskilling yourself becoming a 1st line of support engineer. Support will be provided and you'll be working with a variety of technologies to help your skill set grow.

You will provide support to users across all designated business areas. You will be reuqired to control and manage communication with ticket posters, building robust working relationships with users and dealing with their queries on a daily basis. You will be responsible for accurate management of the ticket logging system and ensuring users are updated on a daily basis as to the stauts of their tickets. Your vaired workload will require you to multitask and work to tight deadlines. You must have an excellent eye for detail and commitment to compliance. 

As a point of contact for candidates, you will be required to uphold a positive image of West Ham Untied IT and ensure all users are treated with professionalism at all times. You must be proactive and flexible in your approach, and commited to working as a team to achieve results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responding to queries (via phone and email) from users and third party suppliers, ensuring solutions are provided in a timely manner through liaison with the support team.
  • Managing essential user documentation for on boarding and ensuring all records are updated and maintained.
  • Be responsible for procurement of IT equipment for all items of the business, complying with the purchase order sign off process.
  • Unsuring tickets are completed on time.
  • Supporting projects and campaigns on both regular and ad hoc bases.
  • Manage team inbox, referring appropriate information to the relevant team member.
  • Access control card printing and administration (training provided).
  • Resolving basic support queries such as password resets and ink changing (training provided).

Qualifications required

  • English and maths GCSE, or equivalent, grade D-G (Essential). 
  • IT Qualification (Desirable). 

Future prospects

The initial contract is for 12 months with renewal potential upon completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
