    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The aim of the Blue Badge Scheme is to help disabled people with severe mobility problems to access goods and services, by allowing them to park close to their destination.  The scheme is open to eligible disabled people irrespective of whether they are travelling as a driver or as a passenger.

The main responsibiliites will be:

  • Dealing wth telephone, email and face to face enquiries from disabled people, relatives and professionals and to provide advice.
  • Processing application forms.
  • Telephoning customers.
  • Making appointments for staff.
  • Assisting customers with completing applications.
  • Scanning and indexing documents and maintaining filing systems.
  • Photocopying
  • Processing invoices
  • Processing payments.
  • Updating databases.
  • Producing statistical information.
  • Keeping customer and manual records up to date. 
  • Understand and comply with the City Council’s environmental policies
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies and legislation in performance of the duties of the post
  • Work with information technology and associated systems in accordance with the City Council’s policies & procedures
  • Comply with standing orders, financial regulations and Departmental instructions
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the City Council’s Equality and Diversity policy
  • Take part in the Councils Managing individual Performance Scheme
  • Achieve all elements of the apprenticeship qualification including the required level of Functional skills competence in English, Maths and ICT(as appropriate)

Future prospects

Although we do not guarantee employment after this training, many of our apprentices have successfully gained employed with the City Council. We aim to support as many apprentices as possible into roles after this training. Your Future - Our Future!
