Job Purpose

The successful candidate will work closely with the Deputy School Manager and assist in the development and maintenance of the School’s Digital Capability Strategy. Supporting the identification of the School’s ongoing IT requirements and helping to ascertain the most appropriate IT solution. Monitor, encourage and embed IT good practice, including security compliance, asset management, basic hardware and software maintenance. To help the on-boarding of new School staff and the development of the IT skills of existing staff, through the promotion of Lynda.com training packages and similar initiatives.              

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in auditing the effectiveness of current School based IT systems and practices
  • Help identify IT solutions to help improve School processes  
  • Monitor the School’s adherence to UEL’s IT Security Policy and promote good practice
  • Help maintain and up-date School Intranet/Internet sites  
  • Maintain and manage a School based IT asset register
  • Help maintain up-keep of IT Hardware
  • On-board new School staff and deliver IT induction briefings
  • Curate and promote Lynda.com playlists and other resources to encourage staff development
  • Undertake trawls of software used by the School, ensuring licences are up to date and valid  
  • Act as a bridge between the School and IT Services, translating School needs into technical specs      
  • Manage non-routine and ad hoc enquiries
  • Contribute to leading and maintaining a network of IT Support Technicians
  • Undertake IT and Admin related duties as directed by the Deputy School Manager

Qualifications required

96 to 112 UCAS points or 3 A levels Grades (CCC to BCC) or BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma or level 3 Apprenticehsip

Applicant with an alternative qualification will need to be assessed to ensure their qualification meets the requirement

Maths and English GCSE grade A-C or 4-9

Note preferance is for subjects that demonstrate an IT bias previously

 

Future prospects

Full time non Apprenticeship role in the University on successful completion of the Apprenticeship.
