    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Your duties will include:

  • Meeting and greeting clients
  • Shampooing
  • Making tea's and coffee
  • Keeping the salon clean and tidy
  • Assisting stylists throughout the day
  • You will be working full-time with a day off in the week

Your training will be once a fortnight at Reflections Training Academy for the delivery of your NVQ Level 2 and Functional skills. This will be in a combination of theory and practical sessions in our prestigious academy, you will also receive weekly night schools at the salon, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.

Future prospects

The right candidate will have many opportunities to progress within the salon and future training available to advanced apprenticeship (Level 3).

Things to consider

Everday will be different and you will be required to spend most of the day being active. You will be required to work Saturdays and work a late night. From 1st of April 2017 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. Those between the ages of 19-24 who are in their second year (or third year) need to be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age bracket. In April 2016 the new National Living Wage was implemented and therefore if you are over the age of 25 and in your second or third year of an Apprenticeship you will be entitled to be paid the National Living Wage.
