    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Role and Responsibilities

  • To care for children aged 2-5
  • To attend additional training if required i.e. first aid, food hygiene
  • To keep children safe and adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all settings policies and procedures
  • To observe, plan and develop activities for children
  • To liaise with colleagues, parents and other professionals effectively
  • Changing and feeding children
  • Preparing light snacks
  • Contribute to learning journals with support (will also have the opportunity to co keyworker children with support from colleagues) dependant of level agreed.
  • Supervising outdoor play
  • Cleaning duties as required

  • You will need to pass a DBS check and provide two references.

  • Candidates for apprenticeships must have a passion for developing their career in Early Years and show passion and flair for supporting young children and their families.
  • They will also need the ability to cherish the individuality of children and support us in putting in place the foundations of lifelong learning whilst upholding our high profile.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE A*-C Maths and English (or equivalent) preferred
