This role involves aspects of both sales support and customer service. You will be helping the sales team with enquiries, paperwork, stock control and processing orders.

You will also be dealing with clients, staff and suppliers, resolving issue as quickly and effectively as possible. You will be an important part of the team and have to be able to deal confidently and professionally with the general public.

The role requires an outgoing and independent person who can also work as an integral part of a small team.

Duties include:

  • Meeting and greeting customers.
  • Processing orders.
  • Handling cash and card payments.
  • Stock ordering and replenishing.
  • Answering customer queries via telephone, email, and face-to-face.
  • Basic administration duties (photocopying, filing, inputting onto spreadsheets).

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, excellent numeracy and literacy, excellent customer service.
  • You should be able demonstrate good communication both verbal and written and be conscientious in the approach to your work and your development.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the construction sector would be an advantage.

Things to consider

Holiday entitlement: Standard including Bank Holidays. Staff benefits: uniform provided once trial period over. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). For more information visit:
