Apprenticeship in care-

This job role will involve learning how to care for clients with dementia, the challenges that they face and the issues that it raises for the families and next of kin.
You will learn how to carry all aspects of providing direct personal care, washing, bathing, continence care, assisting with nutrition, their likes and dislikes, along with helping them to remain as fit and fulfilled as possible. Providing them with support to participate in activities will also be expected. 
This job role will eventually lead to training in medication, along with liaising with other medical professionals to ensure full holistic care is provided in line with their personal preferences. 
As part of the apprenticeship you will support to undertake the Health and Social care qualification either at level two or three, other mandatory training will be provided, such as the care certificate, first aid, safeguarding, moving and handling etc.

Honesty, caring and a willingness to work hard will be needed to gain a qualification and understanding in this line of work. 

Qualifications required

No formal qualifications are needed, but a willingness to work hard to achieve a vocational qualification is expected. 

Future prospects

As the apprenticeship progresses, if you so wish to do so, a role within the team will be discussed with you so that on completion a part/full time job could be available to you.

Things to consider

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Sundial Cottage is a well established, privately owned Care home, situated on the edge of the New Forest National Park, on the South Coast of Hampshire, close to the beaches of Calshot and Lepe and approximately one mile from the Village of Fawley.

Sundial Cottage is owned by Mr Neil Sykes and Ms Lorraine Beale and is managed by a full time Registered Manager. Staff are committed to providing person centred care within a warm, stimulating homely environment that strives to meet the individual needs of the clients and support their families.

We are registered for 22 residents male or female. The Certificate of Registration is for Care Home for adults over 65, Mental Health conditions, Dementia, physical disabilities and sensory impairments.

We can provide long stay care, carers breaks, rehabilitation, palliative care and day care.
