Advanced Level Apprenticeship
This new opportunity will initially involve providing a significant level of support to the more experienced engineers. As you progress your knowledge and skills will grow and you will be given increased responsibility. The main areas of this will be;
- Carry out preventative planned maintenance
- Monitor process control systems
- Resolve mechanical breakdown issues
- Resolve electrical/electronic breakdown issues
- Evaluate machine efficiency and performance
- Promote team working
- Any other roles related to job
Requirements and prospects
You will need to be able to show skills in the following areas;

GCSE Grade C and above (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Science and English

You will undertake an Advanced Apprentice in Engineering Maintenance consisting of NVQ, Technical Certificate, Functional Skills, Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS). The Technical Certificate will include off the job training on a day release programme.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £2.73 per hour from 1st October 2014. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
