    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The successful applicant will be required to:

Duties include:

  • Successful candidates will deliver sport and physical activities to children and young people, both in school curriculum time following the PE National Curriculum and/or set prgrams of study and also deliver a range of OSHL (Out of School Hours Learning) extracurricular activities before school, at lunch times, after school and in school holidays.

  • Meet outcomes and results with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on expectations for high quality standards
  • Critically assess own performance in a mature and credible manner
  • Deal with a range of different situations
  • Be reliable, tolerant and determined
  • Be an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view
  • Articulate themselves in a professional and well-presented manner at all times

  • No criminal convictions or cautions that would prevent you working with children

Qualifications required

  • 5 GCSE's grade A-C or equivalent
  • Any relevant sport qualifications

Additional location information

Travelling between different school locations within the Baldock area will be required as part of this role. The ideal candidate would either have access to own transport or be willing to use public transport to access various schools.
