Reporting to the Engineering Leading Hand / Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Learn to undertake fault finding.
  • Repair of injection moulding.
  • Compression moulding.
  • Extrusion and mixing presses.
  • Oiling and greasing of equipment.
  • Cleaning water filters.
  • Weekly safety checks of presses/equipment.
  • Assist with the Planned Preventative Maintenance.

Qualifications required

Training provider

You will achieve an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering.  This will include:

  • Foundation Competence - in College, 2 days per week in Year 1.
  • Level 3 NVQ in Engineering Maintenance - Years 2 & 3 in workplace.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies or L3 BTEC in Mechanical Engineering or Level 3 BTEC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering - Years 2 & 3 in College.
  • Industrial Electrical Maintenance - 2 week period at end of Year 2.
  • Functional Skills in Maths & English (if required).
  • End point assessment at the end of Year 3.
