  •  Deliver Food and Beverage service of high standard and in accordance with departmental standards and procedures
  • Communicates to Duty Manager any difficulties, guest comments and other relevant information 
  • Attends and participates in training sessions as scheduled

Prepares for service by ensuring:

  • Department area equipment is clean
  • Equipment is sorted and stored
  • Glassware is polished
  • All mis-en-place is ready and sufficient
  • Requirements for special occasions are ready
  • Music is on
  • Lighting is on
  • Department is ready for service and guest comfort

Carries out effective service by ensuring:

  • Guests are greeted and seated
  • Daily beverage specials are explained and up-sold
  • Food orders are processed accurately
  • Trays and tray jacks are effectively used
  • Food and beverage orders are taken quickly
  • Payment methods are handled accurately
  • Working areas are cleaned and re-set quickly
  • Food & beverage guest service areas are clean
  • Used ashtrays are regularly cleaned on patio area
  • Guests are conversed with in relation to the food and beverage products

Carries out effective beverage service by ensuring:

  • Beverages are up-sold and regularly replenished, abiding by responsible alcohol service regulations
  • Converse with Guests about wine, advising the types and styles of wine, taking wine orders and serving wine
  • Coffee and tea is served hot and in accordance with standard

Guest care standards are adhered to by ensuring:

  • Guests are advised on alcoholic beverages
  • Guests are given appropriate and professional guidance on menu & beverage selection through thorough product knowledge
  • The strengths of alcohol is advised and guests are advised as to their effect
  • Compliance with legal provisions of local liquor codes
  • Level of intoxication of guests is assessed and appropriate action taken
  • Advise guest on the hotel’s policy of smoking
  • Monitor factors which interfere with the total experience of the guest
  • Take appropriate action to resolve guest complaints
  • Actively participate in training and development programs and maximise opportunities for self development   

Health, Safety and Security:

  • Demonstrate understanding and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to Health, Hygiene and Fire Life Safety
  • Familiarise yourself with emergency and evacuation procedures
  • Ensure all security incidents, accidents and near misses are always logged in a timely manner and brought to the attention of the Line Manager
  • To carry out any other reasonable requested duties by management

Things to consider

This job includes evening and weekends, on a rota basis. The role is full-time working Monday to Friday 9-5 however; you must be flexible as there will be some late sessions.

Training provider

Full Apprenticeship Training Level 2 will be provided by Interserve All training done on site at work, no day release. You will also be working towards a technical certificate, ERR (employer rights and responsibilities and functional skills in maths, English and ICT if not already achieved.
