This is an exciting opportunity designed as an entry level role in the Accounting Profession.  Based in the Central team at our Lanhydrock office, you will be supporting the Bridgeschools Multi-Academy Trust Finance function on the delivery of statutory and management accounts. 

Overall, your role will be to support the finance team to maintain accounting records and help prepare management accounts within set time scales whilst studying towards your professional qualification.

You will be working closely with the Financial Controller to:

  • Maintain the nominal, purchase and sales ledger. 
  • Input of financial transactions onto the finance system
  • Assisting with VAT preparation
  • Raising sales invoices
  • Assisting with reconciliations at each period end and inputting cash transactions
  • Helping with bank reconciliations on a periodic basis.

You will be assisting the Systems Accountant to manage the fixed asset register which would include the annual depreciation calculation, the listing of new assets and removal of fully depreciated assets when scrapped or sold.   You will also be providing assistance in providing management accounting and KPI information to Senior teams in each of the Bridgeschools academies.

Working closely with Bridgeschools academies, you will be providing assistance and answering financial queries when required with periodic site visits.

You will be providing support and assistance to the Chief Finance Officer on a range of projects and initiatives during your time with Bridgeschools Mulit-academy Trust.

The post-holder may, from time to time, be required to carry out other duties provided they are within the general level of responsibility of the duties set out above and within the abilities of the post holder.

Things to consider

You must ensure you have suitable travel arrangements in place to get to and from work and to attend college. The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Training provider

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of work based assessment and one day a week attendance at college.  The programme culminates in an End Point Assessment, where the knowledge and skills gained on the apprneticeship will be formally tested.
