This is an exciting opportunity for a young Engineer to join us as an apprentice. This could be up to a 4 year apprenticeship depending on entry level. Both Level 2 and level 3 applications are welcome.

You will be involved primarily in Mechanical work but will also have an Electrical bias. You will be workshop based but there are opportunities to work on sites around the UK and overseas.

Main duties to include:

  • Interpret first and third angle drawings to build bespoke analytical instrumentation units.
  • Instrument pipefitting / tubing and electrical build.
  • Fitting of brackets to support instrumentation.
  • Fit electrical, electronic components.
  • Measuring and marking out, cutting and forming materials.
  • Booking in and checking quality of materials.
  • Involved in Health & Safety & Housekeeping activities.
  • Quality Check the completed assembly to ensure that all operations have been completed and the finished assembly meets the required specification.
  • Installing, Testing and commissioning units.

Qualifications required

To apply for this position, you will need:

For Level 2

  • GCSE – English & Maths  at grades A- C (or equivalent).
  • A PEO or other relevant Engineering qualification desirable but not essential.

Future prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship: Taken on full time. Progression to higher qualifications. Working on costings, Quotes, Design and CAD.

Things to consider

The salary is £200 Per week approx. depending on experience, with re-view every 6 months. Telford College are managing this vacancy on behalf of this company. Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
