Kingsley Plastics is a South West company that is expanding rapidly and looking to increase its staff team. This is an exciting time to be part of a growing, changing company, researching new products and materials, with great future career opportunities.

As a CAD apprentice, you would work alongside an experienced manager, learning about our products and materials.

Your work would involve:

  • Use software to draw 2D or 3D images of products or parts of a product
  • Technical drawings
  • Preparing the buildings for customers
  • As you progress you will take on your own projects to develop and grow, including research into new products

You will have the chance to work with the chairman of the company to develop new ideas, as well as working closely with the sales team to gain an understanding of the customers and how the product is used.

This is a role with lots of potential, and would suit a candidate with lots of personal drive and motivation, as well as a creative flair for design and problem solving.

The salary offered is flexible, and will take into account prior knowledge of CAD and also travel costs.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

AutoCAD (Essential).

Solid works (Preferred).

IT, literacy, good customer relations skills and good communications skills required.

Personal qualities

Hard-working, confident and eager to learn. Interest in CAD drawings and design/manufacturing procedure improvements.

It is a very busy office and the person will be expected to help out with general office duties from time to time, especially the answering and forwarding of calls where applicable.

Qualifications required

5 GCSES or equivalent Grade C or above.

Must include : Maths and English.

ICT skills or equivalent.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
