This apprenticeship will provide you with experience in teaching sport to children from the age of 4+ upwards.

We don’t care about your grades or qualifications we just want engaging, fun, open-minded individuals, who are full of personality and are great with people.  
 
The idea of teaching children can be intimidating. It may be something you have never considered but it is extremely rewarding, great fun and almost immediately evident once you start whether it is a skill set you have.

The Role:

The apprenticeship is with The Samurai Fitness Group a company that specialises in teaching kickboxing to children aged 4 years old and up. 

Don’t worry if you don’t know anything about martial arts, you’ll receive all the training necessary for you to become a valuable member of staff.

You will be expected to turn up punctually to your assigned classes and will work as an Assistant Instructor.

Your duties will include:

  • Learning the class syllabus.
  • Helping students with their techniques.
  • Undertaking class warm-ups with the supervision of the class instructor.
  • Setting up classes.
  • Providing lesson plans and helping with the efficient running of our lessons and events.

You will report and interact on a daily basis with each of the Kickboxing Instructors in charge of the classes to which you are assigned. Sam Stefan will manage the London apprentices and Matthew Collins will manage those in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

  • Develop and inspire young people to live and lead active lifestyles.
  • Able to assist in the production of accurate assessments and reports on children and young people’s progress.
  • Knowledge of the school PE National Curriculum (Desirable).

Personal qualities

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Reliable with strong time management.
  • Self-motivated and have a passion for teaching/coaching.
  • Previous experience of physical activity delivery would be highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrate and articulate that they have a clear passion and drive to inspire young people through sport and physical activity.
  • Meet outcomes and results with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on expectations for high quality standards.
  • Critically assess own performance in a mature and credible manner.
  • Deal with a range of different situations.
  • Be reliable, tolerant and determined.
  • Be an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view.
  • Articulate themselves in a professional well-presented and professional manner at all times.

  • No criminal convictions or cautions that would prevent you working with children.

Qualifications required

  • 5 GCSE's grade A*-C or equivalent.
  • Any relevant sport qualifications (Desirable).

Future prospects

If you show true energy and commitment to the role and successfully meet our requirements you will be given the opportunity to train to become a Kickboxing Instructor in either West London or Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. Those training to become a Kickboxing Instructor will be provided with training in The Samurai Fitness Group syllabus, first aid, child protection and health and safety. Once the training is completed to a satisfactory standard you will have the opportunity to become a Full Time Instructor with responsibility for your own classes. There are opportunities for those employees that excel in their role to progress to Director Level where they will be responsible for a section of The Samurai Fitness Group business in which they would like to specialise.

It specialises in teaching kickboxing to children aged from 4 years old to 18 in schools and public halls.‬ The Samurai Fitness Group was incorporated in 2010 and since then it has taught over 2,000 children and is growing rapidly.‬
