  • To carry out duties associated with the section in which the apprentice is working at a level appropriate to the apprentice's experience at that point in time

  • MTA Software Development Fundamentals
  • Functional Skills (including English Level 2 and Maths Level 2)

Things to consider

a) The nature of the work may involve the need for you to carry out work outside of normal working hours. You are also likely to have to work in your own time to attain the professional qualification. b) You may be required to undertake some manual handling. c) Expenses will be paid in accordance with the County Council’s normal rates, referred to as the ‘Local Conditions of Service’. d) At the end of the training period, you will be expected to have attained the level of competence to submit a portfolio of evidence for review. Once the qualification is achieved you will have preferential status for interviews for positions in Leicestershire County Council for a period of 6 months, providing you meet the essential criteria for the post.

Leicestershire County Council is a local authority. We are responsible for education, transport, planning, fire and public safety, social care, libraries, waste management and trading standards in Leicestershire. Our apprenticeship scheme is designed to help young people gain skills and experience while working towards a relevant qualification. It involves working in one of our departments as part of a team providing council services. You’ll also be paid the minimum wage for 18-20 year olds, which is roughly £189.81 for a 37 hour week (£5.13 per hour). Training provider

  • Training will involve working alongside the IT Support Manager within the different areas of the business, working under supervision 
  • Knowledge-based off the job training will take place over 5 x 1 week courses including an end Examination every other month during the 12 months of the Apprenticeship. This will take place at our training facilities in Long Eaton

The Apprentice will work towards the following qualifications:

  • BCS IT Infrastructure Technician Level 3
  • Functional Skills (including English Level 2 and Maths Level 2)
  • Completion of Employer Rights and Responsibilities Booklet
