    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

  • Good ICT skills / full training given for their in-house software
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent telephone manner

Qualifications required

  • There are no entry requirements to apply, however you will need to complete initial assessments in English, Maths and ICT

Future prospects

On successful completion of your apprenticeship you will receive NVQ Level 2 certificates along with Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT as well as an Employment Rights and Responsibilities project. You will then have the opportunity to work towards your Level 3 qualification.

Things to consider

Most Customer Service Apprentices work 40 hours a week, from Monday to Friday but may be required to also work Saturdays with a day off in the week.

Training provider

  • This course usually takes one year to gain an NVQ/VCQ Level 2
  • The time will be spent in a place of employment where you will get to learn practical skills from seeing the real working environment
  • Once you pass your assessments and progress through your course you will be able to start completing tasks on your own
  • To ensure you are competent in completing tasks on your own a Remit assessor will visit you periodically at the work place to complete assessment testing with you
