Nature of Work:

Working primarily in the drawing office, you will also spend time in the engineering workshops to understand production techniques.

The role wil include:

  • using Computer Aided Design  software (CAD) to generate 3D models/designs
  • interpreting technical drawings
  • general administration
  • understanding the workshop processes - punch presses, bending, welding, final component clean-up and painting
  • final assembly of systems
  • appreciation of electrical systems

Like all apprenticeships, this requires a long term commitment - there will be assignments and log book entries to complete as well as homework from college. From April 2017 the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
