We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Teaching Apprentice to provide support for children and teachers.

This is a unique opportunity to gain experience of working in a primary/infant school alongside teachers with a view to becoming a qualified teacher. Whilst working in school, you will study a level 3 NVQ Diploma in Specialist Support in Teaching and Learning in Schools and attend college 1 day per week based in Chelmsford.

  • Support pupils with activities which support literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Establish positive relationships with pupils supported.
  • Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher.

  • Establish positive relationships with pupils supported.
  • Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher.

  • Support the use of ICT in the classroom and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
  • Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with school policies and help keep pupils on task.

  • Participate in evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour.

Personal qualities

  • Ability to plan, organise and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and personable, capable of working both as a team player and independently.
  • Good communicator both written and oral.
  • IT literate.
  • Ability to create and keep effective records
  • To assist with escorting pupils on educational visits.

Qualifications required

The successful candidate will need a minimum of 5 GCSE's, Grade A - C including English, maths and a science subject or equivalent.
