This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a young and energetic company in Gloucestershire. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic apprentice to become our in-house IT expert and support the small team with their technology and operational duties.

We believe in providing the right tools for our team, and our IT systems are a vital component. Many of our existing systems are cloud based and part of the opportunity for the IT & Systems Apprentice is to act as the “glue” in effectively utilising those systems for a growing PACE Team.

 

The IT & Systems Apprentice will carry out a range of internal activities. The role will include:

  • Providing direct or remote desktop and server support to work-base and home offices
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing faults
  • Improving security and disaster recovery procedures
  • Customer service and aftersales, including involvement in the collection, inspection and return of products
  • Devise solutions in the use of ICT tools in order to improve productivity
  • Entering stock and order data into Dear Inventory
  • Helping with shipping paperwork, customs regulations and stock checks
  • Develop thorough understanding of company software including Xero, Dear Inventory and CRM
  • Join the team to set up and dismantle UK Exhibitions
  • Help to prepare stock and logistics or paperwork for exhibitions

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Essential:

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Some established ability in IT

Desirable:

  • Experienced using Microsoft Office
  • GCSE grades C or above in English, Mathematics and IT
  • Experience in the workplace
  • Being able to code would be a bonus
  • Some experience of CRM
  • Familiarity with Cloud systems and networks

Qualifications required

Essential: GCSE English and Maths grade 9-4 (or equivalent).
Desirable: 2 A-Level Qualifications A-D (or equivalent). Previous certification in IT

Future prospects

This role offers the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to significantly progress their career in a range of areas and become an integrated part of an experienced and dynamic team. This is a 12-month contract, alongside 1 day a week studies for a Level 3 Diploma in IT User Skills, with the aim to employ the candidate at the end of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

This role is based rurally about 20 minutes from Cirencester so own transport is essential. Flexibility and teamwork are key. The post holder will be required to help set up and dismantle at uk exhibitions during the busy spring/summer season which may include staying away overnight or very occasionally working on the weekend. This will also require a reasonable level of fitness and physical ability.
