Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Essential:

  • Good IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail)
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

  • Good customer skills, both over the telephone and face-to-face

Desired:

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-C including English and Maths.

Future prospects

Century IT Services are a well-established and expanding IT Services Company. This apprenticeship is for 12-18 months. We are training you as an apprentice with a view to becoming a permanent employee. For the right person a permanent position is available.

Things to consider

Century IT Services are based in Totton alongside main bus routes and within a few minutes’ walk of Totton train station. Century IT are in easy reach of Totton College being around 1 mile away. Century IT Services are located on the top floor of a 3 storey building near Totton city centre, although there is a lift in the building, there may be times it is not in operation.

Training provider

Level 2:

  • Competence: Level 2 Diploma in professional Competence for IT & Telecoms Professionals
  • Knowledge: Level 2 Award in ICT Systems and Principles

Level 3:

  • Competence: Level 3 Diploma in ICT professional Competence
  • Knowledge: Level 3 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles

Functional Skills: apprentices will study Functional Skills in English, Maths, and ICT at Level 2. Some learners are exempt due to prior attainment.

Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR): apprentices will gain an introduction to the world of work and develop knowledge of employee rights & responsibilities, health & safety and equality & diversity.

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS): apprentices will develop transferable skills: independent enquiry; creative thinking; reflective learning; team working; self-management; and effective participation.
