Role and responsibilities

Day to day tasks including but not limited to:

  • Picking and packing tasks.
  • Assist in compiling daily reports.
  • Keep the management informed of any problems.
  • Working as a team member.
  • Attention to detail when completing tasks.
  • Ensure you play a part in ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Booking in deliveries and keeping the warehouse organised.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Demonstrated ability to organise merchandise efficiently.
  • Thorough understanding of goods retrieval system.
  • Good customer orientation with a strong ability to deal effectively with complaints.
  • Able to operate a pallet jack.
  • Proven ability to stand and work continually for long hours.
  • Physically dexterous to lift and move heavy objects and load/unload delivery trucks.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Special talent for following warehouse safety precautions and procedures.
  • Well versed in creating logs and maintaining documents.
  • Skilled in basic computer operations including warehouse software and MS Word, Excel.
  • Eager to perform housekeeping tasks for the work area.
  • Track record of maintaining the security of the warehouse.

Personal qualities

  • Looking for a professional individual with good communication skills.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE's Grade A-C in Mathematics and English (or equivalent).

Future prospects

A full time position will be offered to the appropriate candidate.

Things to consider

Own transport is beneficial due to rural location. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
