    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Working within a company that has aspirations to grow and become successful, you will be assisting with the care of children from 5 months and up.  You will be assisting with the school run and assisting with a wide range of activities held after school and during the school holidays.

The ideal candidate will be looking for a long-term aspiration to become a nursery manager and seek a career within the childcare sector.

Your duties will be to assist and support the nursery manager with the following duties:

  • Be committed to the provision of high quality care of children. 
  • Be committed to own professional development and be responsible for own learning.
  • Be involved in planning on a short/long term basis to enhance the provision and development of children.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with parents/children
  • Use skills of observation to assess child development and complete/maintain records accordingly.
  • To be involved in care of children and provide stimulating activities and learning opportunities.
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are available for each child and is in safe working order.
  • Ensure that the nursery is clean and hygienic at all times and ensure daily cleaning is done along with any other cleaning as requested.
  • Work as part of a staff team within the nursery to ensure the overall aims of the organisation are achieved.
  • At all times represent the organisation in a positive manner.
  • Undertake other duties as required for the effective running of the nursery.

Future prospects

On completion of the Intermediate Apprenticeship, individuals will have the opportunity to apply to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Early Year Educator.
