It is hoped that the successful candidate will join the team and play their part in the successful running of the office while they study to complete a Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We are excited to ask for candidates to apply for the opportunity to work for a well established architecture Practice based in Cannock.

Sutton & Wilkinson Architects LTD are recruiting an enthusiastic Apprentice Office Administrator to complement their office team. They require a positive and reliable person. Someone who, above all, is willing to learn. This means you don’t need to have previous experience but A*-C GCSE results would put you at a very strong advantage.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering incoming telephone calls
  • Scanning, filing and archiving paperwork
  • Creating draft documents
  • Managing incoming and outgoing post
  • Greeting visitors and provision of refreshments
  • Following company procedure and workflow arrangements
  • Recording, updating and archiving information
  • Research for other departments- usually online
  • Use of office equipment (photocopier, fax machine etc.)
  • Using emails and outlook

The successful candidate may be asked to complete a number of duties outside of this list in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the office.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Candidates must be well organised with effective communication skills. An excellent telephone manner is required and candidates must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook. The successful candidate will understand their role in the team, be able to take direction, follow procedures and keen to learn.

Personal qualities

The successful candidate must have a desire to learn and be professional in appearance. They will be motivated with a responsible outlook and be prepared to work under their own initiative in a small business.

Qualifications required

Because of the environment the candidate must have A*- C at Maths and English GCSE, or equivalent.

Future prospects

The successful candidate will have their progress reviewed throughout their Apprenticeship. It is hoped that you will establish yourself as valued team member and continue your development in the company. However, a final decision will be made on completion of the qualification.

Things to consider

This is small company with established patterns of work. You will be expected to fit in with their operational process.
