    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

    5 hours at college then 15 hours (increasing to 25 hours), in salon worked over the week, work pattern agreed at interview (duration of the apprenticeship has been extended due to the hours of work being less than 30)

As a therapist you will be responsible for administering a full range of level 2 beauty treatments to clients. The successful applicant will also be expected to assist in the everyday running of the salon including some front of house duties including meeting and greeting customers, answering the phone and taking bookings, promoting and selling beauty products.  Additional duties include ensuring all rooms and equipment is maintained in pristine condition in accordance to health and safety regulations.

Things to consider

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
