    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Bright Sparks at St Mary's College are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual with good personal and communication skills, the ability to show initiative and be successful in a competitive working environment.

The role will include, but not restricted to:

  • To provide administrative duties to the Office Manager and the team, thereby enabling the department to provide excellent childcare.
  • To assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment through constant vigilance.
  • To respect the need for confidentiality at all times.
  • To maintain accurate and confidential records of staff, children and parents.
  • To create and distribute letters, newsletters and other parent information formats.
  • To liaise with parents with regard to enquiries, information and the general day to day queries.
  • To assist in the completion of purchase orders of resources and supplies.
  • To provide reports and documents through accurate use of Microsoft Office.
  • To support staff in their production of parent information and also with record keeping, charts and newsletters.
  • To input data for pupil’s progress records and to maintain parental permissions file for use of photography etc.
  • To welcome parents, children and visitors by communicating pleasantly and effectively in person, in writing and on the telephone.

This employer is willing to take on a Level 3 Apprentice if a candidate has already obtained the appropriate Level 2 qualification.

Our nursery includes a baby room (0-12 months), toddler room (12-18 months), little tinkers (18 months - 2 years), tots room (2-3 years) and kindergarten (3-4 years).
