    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

This job is working in a manufacturing envrironment and jod duties will include the following;

  • Creating logos using Corel Draw
  • Sending proofs to customers and agreeing alterations
  • Cutting vinyls using a plot cutter
  • Hand weeding logos
  • Using the heat press, applying  logos to garments
  • Despatch

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • An excellent standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office and Corel Draw, although full training will be given on computer software

Personal qualities

  • Ability to multitask
  • Methodical approach to work
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work on your own initiative when required to do so

Qualifications required

You will need GCSE Maths and English at grades A-C or the equivalent qualification to be able to apply for this apprenticeship.

Future prospects

A full time position will be available for the right person at the end of the apprenticeship.
