Duties include:

  • To assist and support residents with their personal care needs (assistance with washing, eating, toileting and dressing)
  • To support residents to live an independent lifestyle in so far as is possible
  • To provide a high standard of customer service to residents and visitors to the home
  • To maintain the daily care plan for which clear and concise record keeping skills and a good standard of spoken and written english is essential
  • To support the residents in participation of activities
  • To adhere to the Company's policies and procedures and help to maintain a clean, tidy environment which is free from infection
  • To work as part of the care team and take instruction from the person in charge
  • To communicate all instructions from medical professionals to the person in charge
  • To courteously greet visitors to the home and promote the home
  • To assist with luncheon and supper service and make tea and coffee for residents and visitors

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Good spoken and written English in order to communicate with the residents and for clear and accurate recording on the care plans

Personal qualities

  • A caring and compassionate disposition
  • Ability to complete tasks with a given time frame and to be organised
  • Good timekeeping and attendance
  • A willingness to learn and take instruction.

Qualifications required

GCSE's in Maths & English grade A - C are required (or equivalent qualification).

Future prospects

Level 2 Health & Social Care qualified assistant to then go on to completion of Level 3 and if performance is satisfactory an acting senior or senior carer position.

Things to consider

Public transport to the home is very limited. The individual must maintain a good attendance record and report to work 15 minutes prior to every shift for handover. An enhanced DBS check will need to be carried out along with 2 satisfactory written references before employment can be confirmed.
