    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage rates are £4.05 an hour for 16 - 17 year olds, £5.60 an hour for 18 - 20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship(usually one day per week).

As a South Gloucestershire Council apprentice, you will be trained and gain work experience, complete a course of study and have the opportunity to obtain work-related professional qualifications.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Use of ICT systems/software packages including bespoke or non-standard software.
  • Information security and governance maintenance.
  • Research and resolve problems at first point of contact level, and able to judge when to escalate to more senior technical experts.
  • Provide advice to customers about compliance, legislation, regulation, policies and technical issues ensuring that effective customer relationships are established and maintained, advice provided is understood, accurate and any risks and benefits are identified.
  • Dealing with own priorities in dealing with competing workloads whilst demonstrating good verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications required

A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at grade C or above including English and Maths. 

Future prospects

96% of Arch Apprentices move straight into the destination of their choice when they finish their apprenticeship with many seeing their salary go up immediately post-apprenticeship
