    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Full time apprenticeship for a construction plant engineer to commission, service and repair Comacchio, MDT and Soilmec piling equipment

Day to day tasks include determining standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance, inspecting plant and machinery to ensure optimum performance, helping with the maintenance of plant buildings and equipment, scheduling and planning production activities.

Things to consider

It is intended to provide training at Bircham Newton on a block release basis which will entail living away from home. There may be occasional on site visits which could attract additional hours outside of those of a normal working day. Applicants should possess a desire to acquire a full UK driving licence when eligible to do so. Potential applicants will be invited to complete a period of work placement to determine their suitability for the apprentice vacancy.

Set up by Robin North, North Equipment Ltd is based in Oundle, Northants with workshop and service facilities covering a range of Comacchio CH rotary and CFA piling rigs with weights from 40 ton to 65 ton. We are appointed agents for Comacchio Heavy Equipment s.r.l. for the UK and the Republic of Ireland. In addition, we are pleased to offer a fleet of CFA and rotary piling rigs for hire as well as providing a base for the service and repair of piling rigs of various makes. We are a small dynamic team who are dedicated to providing flexibility in meeting customer needs whilst placing emphasis on cost, reliability and longevity.
