    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Apprentices will undertake a Level 3 Apprenticeship relevant to their area of work, including industry recognised qualifications, so that they can develop technical knowledge and skills for a specific role ie. Assistant Accountant, IT Infrastructure Technician.

Complete a Work Preparation Programme involving employability skills training and two week's work experience in a health organisation during September 2017, as close as possible to where they live.  At the end of the Work Preparation Programme individuals will be interviewed with those successful being offered an apprenticeship.

For the duration of the two year apprenticeship, individuals will be placed in a specific department depending on their area of interest ie. Finance, IT, Information, Training in order to develop knowledge and skills in their chosen area.

Training provider

Apprentices will be employed on a full time, fixed-term contract attending training in Blackburn, Liverpool or Manchester which will depend on an apprentice’s home/work address. 

During the first year training will be day release whereas in the second year it will be either day or block release depending on the programme of study being undertaken.
