Cofton Motors Starcross is looking for 2 body repair apprentices to join their team. They successful candidates will either progress as a panel or a paint apprentice. Cofton Motors is a family run business and have established a strong reputation with their customers for both quality and value.

The successful applicants will learn all aspects of the repair of motor vehicle bodywork on a range of vehicle manufacturers, makes, and models and will be dealing with cars that have been in a collision.

A Body repair apprentice will be trained in:

  • Inspection and damage assessment
  • Striping down vehicles
  • Panel repair and preparation
  • Rebuilding vehicles and quality control
  • Removing damaged panels
  • Repairing damaged chassis and panels
  • Keeping logs of work carried out and keeping customers informed
  • You will be dealing with cars that have been in a collision

There may be an opportunity to study for an Advanced Apprenticeship or gain a full time career.

Things to consider

Please consider the distance of travel when applying for an apprenticeship vacancy. If you live outside of a reasonable commuting distance from the place of work an explanation of your travel plans will be expected within your application. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
