    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

You will learn about and develop skills in:

  • Welcoming and responding to inquiries from members of the public
  • Answering and directing incoming calls
  • Process bookings and appointments in a timely manner
  • General admin including copying, filing and data entry
  • Managing incoming and outgoing post

9.00am -5.00pm Mon-Wed + Fri and 8.00am -1.00pm Thurs


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

A good standard of ICT will also be preferred. You should be flexible, able to work effectively in a team. Previous experience of working in a medical setting would be an advantage due to the high pressured work environment.

Qualifications required

GCSE (or equivalent) grades A-C/4 in Maths, ICT and English.

You will work towards 4 mandatory units and choose optional units. These will be selected by both you and the employer making sure the units are relevant to the job you are undertaking. Technical certificate Level 2 in Business Administration Functional Skills include:-Maths Level 1, English Levels 1 and I.C.T.
