    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

We are looking for someone reliable and conscientious to work as part of a team duties will include:

  • Milking
  • Calf rearing
  • General animal husbandry
  • Some tractor work will also be required but not be essential to the position.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Good time keeping and reliability as well as being conscientious with a love of animals are the main skills required.

Ability to drive (tractors) etc would be beneficial but not essential as training can be given.

Things to consider

We are based on the outskirts of Kingsley on Hollins Lane, the main bus route passes the end of the lane. About the employer

We are a family run dairy farm milking at present 250 dairy cows with followers. All harvesting/field work operations are done in house with our own equipment.
