Intermediate Level Apprenticeship
The Pot Kiln is a busy country pub that is set within a tranquil location with sensational views. It is regarded as one of Britain’s best country pubs and it specialises in providing seasonal, fresh local produce and in particular, game.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a genuine interest in cookery to join our small team. You must be reliable and willing to learn and improve your skills. Main responsibilities will include:
- Prepping kitchen for service.
- Maintaining a clean kitchen.
- Helping with our wood fired pizzas.
- Supporting other members of the team as required.
The weekly salary is dependent on experience and skills and will be above the statutory minimum wage according to ability. You will also receive a share of tips too!
The Pot Kiln can provide on-site accommodation for the successful candidate.
Requirements and prospects
Previous kitchen experience preferred but not essential.
- Hard working
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to take on board criticism and learn from it
Ideally 5 GCSEs at grade D or higher including Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications).
Things to consider
About the employer
On-the-job training will be provided to achieve all aspects of the role requirements. Ongoing support will be offered by your Line Manager and your Newbury College Assessor to achieve the Apprenticeship.
The Apprenticeship will include:
- Competency Based Element: NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery
- Knowledge Based Element: Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Professional Cookery)
- Functional Skills in Maths and English (Both Level 1)
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
This Apprenticeship will be assessed mainly within the work place - The Pot Kiln. However, attendance at Newbury College will be required for the taught element of the programme (Typically 1 day a week - day TBC).
