    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The vacancy is based within the busy goods in warehousing part of the business, which is an integral part of the TG team.  You will work in a team along with other experienced personnel; your main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Pick customer orders & prepare for despatch
  • Place customer orders in correct delivery route area for logistics
  • Receive, inspect & process incoming deliveries
  • Book incoming deliveries onto computerised system
  • Notify suppliers of short deliveries, damaged or incorrect goods received
  • Ensure stock is stored away in correct bin-located areas
  • Utilise lifting aids where appropriate
  • Carry out daily checks on fork lift trucks
  • Deal with any customer enquiries at the sales counter politely & efficiently
  • Liaise with sales office staff on customer order or stock queries
  • Ensure good housekeeping in all work areas
  • Stock Checks, stock rotation and relocation
  • Merchandising of shop displays

Reality Check

This position is based in a warehouse environment and will involve prolonged  physical activity

This role will involve heavy lifting – appropriate lifting aids are provided and manual handling training will be given.
