Responsible to the Practice Manager and working for a small team of 3, the successful person will be involved in a variety of administration and reception work. Duties to include as follows:

  • Answering the telephone
  • Greeting clients
  • Updating and maintaining Director’s diaries and additional work for the directors as required
  • Filing
  • Entering timesheets
  • Sending E-mails
  • Sorting incoming post
  • Franking outgoing post
  • Stationery orders
  • Assisting the business admin team
  • General daily office duties
  • Various IT work using Outlook and Excel for Spreadsheet work
  • Use of the bespoke IRIS CRM system

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Good all round administration and communication skills are essential for this role as are telephone and reception skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work well as part of a team, be able to follow instructions accurately, have excellent organisational and IT skills, be punctual, reliable and able to work well under pressure.

Personal qualities

The successful individual will be honest, reliable and enthusiastic and enjoy working in a busy office environment.

Qualifications required

None as functional skills will be included within the apprenticeship.

Future prospects

For the right candidate, progression will be offered to move on to do a level 3 qualification in Business Admin.

Things to consider

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
