We are a print/print finishing company looking to employ an apprentice Folder Operator to work in our busy factory in Stourton, Leeds.

The Apprentice will learn:

  • to operate the Folder & Muller machines
  • how to bind printed materials together to make books, collections of documents and series periodicals.
  • to set and operate Guillotine machines
  • to learn how to maximise machine efficiencies and minimise machine downtime
  • to experience how to work with targets ensuring optimum running speeds with quality driven approach
  • learn to manage and look after the equipment, seek quality, and learn about environment and health and safety responsibilities

The apprentice will be mentored by experienced machine operators & will report to the Bindery Manager.

The apprentice will be working in a very busy environment where jobs have to be completed on time giving high regard to quality.  There will be times when a particular job is laborious yet candidates will still be required to remain motivated.  They have to be punctual, reliable and motivated.

GCSEs are an advantage; however no formal qualifications are required for the right candidate.

Future prospects

Prospects are dependent upon the drive and enthusiasm of the candidate, but realistically with further training and experience this apprentice role can act as a launch pad leading to further progression to Bindery Operator on shift.

Pay reviews will be conducted dependent on individual performance. Vacancy will close early if the right candidate is found - apply early to avoid disappointment. Please note you may be contacted via e-mail for interview. From 1st April 2017 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
