Working in all aspects of the hospitality industry the successful candidate will learn a wide range of food preparation and cooking skills. In addition, the apprentice will serve customers displaying fantastic customer service and communication skills.

The apprentice will be trained in all aspects of a professional catering environment including:

  • Food preparation and cooking
  • Customer service
  • Health and safety
  • Team work
  • Time management
  • Working in a team
  • Preparing and cooking a range of hot and cold foods
  • Following food safety and health and safety procedures
  • Arranging the service area to present food in a professional manner
  • Receiving deliveries
  • Serving customers
  • Handling cash

None needed, but English and Maths will be assessed as part of the interview process.

After completing this apprenticeship you will be able to progress within the industry and continue to develop your skills.

Things to consider

You will be dealing with customers and will be standing for significant periods of time. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
