    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Key responsibilities will include assisting in:

  • Ensuring the customer orders are completed fully each day in an efficient and motivated manner
  • Ensuring there is no deterioration of products and prepared stock, taking care to select oldest stock first for preparation of order
  • Ensuring all stock and products are stored correctly, according to date, in the appropriate chiller or freezer at the end of the working day
  • At all times to be suitably dressed and wear all the protective clothing and equipment supplied by the Company, and to be responsible for these items
  • Ensuring cleanliness of the production areas and to abide all Health and Hygiene rules as laid out by the Company at all times
  • Using the equipment for its purpose at all times, including colour coded equipment
  • Ensuring that the correct procedures of manual handling and packing of meat are followed at all times
  • Ensuring all machinery and equipment are stripped down and rinsed ready for the Factory Cleaner
