    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice to work within a very busy Dental Practice, based in Wolverhampton.

Here at Dental Health Stop we work effectively as a team to enable a smooth-running practice.

Duties to include:

  • Assisting the dentist at chair-side,
  • Reception duties
  • Decontamination duties.
  • Taking telephone calls,
  • Booking appointments,
  • Offering assistance to Patients
  • Clinical and general cleaning within the practice.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Candidates need to have excellent IT skills, good communication skills and a good telephone manner, as duties will include reception desk.
  • They must also have confidence and professionalism when dealing with customers.
  • Flexibility and punctuality are essential for this post. 
  • Experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

Personal qualities

Candidates must have attitude to work, with a presentable appearance.

The candidate must also be outgoing with an ambition to do well in dental nursing.

Qualifications required

A*-C in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications

Future prospects

To be decided upon completion of training.

Things to consider

Successful candidates will be expected to be willing to keep up-to-date inoculations such as Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis and normal childhood vaccinations. Candidates must also have a clean criminal record.
