About the Job Role

Due to expansion, an exciting opportunity exists for a first line support / helpdesk administrator to work closely within a team of other support engineers in a busy, successful IT Support Company. The role will be based in our Tunbridge Wells office.

The Role:

To provide first line helpdesk support to clients, diagnosing problems, repairing and maintaining computer hardware and systems.

You will have good communication and telephone skills and be dedicated to providing a professional level of customer service. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely is key for this role as you will be dealing with a variety of end users including upper management and directors.

The right candidate will be looking to use this role as a stepping stone to becoming a Network Engineer with the ability to install and maintain computer and telephone systems.

Skills required: Hardware (PC S/laptops/tablets, Networking, Diagnostics / troubleshooting, Routers and Firewalls) and Software (Microsoft Windows (8 and 10), Microsoft Office, Broadband set-up and configuration) Desirable: Hardware (Draytek Routers, Macs, Mobile devices, Storage Array / NAS / SAN, Cabling) and Software( Microsoft Hyper-V, Vmware, Veeam Backup, Cloud Technologies, SIP Telephone Systems)

Personal qualities

Methodical, adaptable, problem solver, use own initiative, self-motivated, confident, proficient in handling IT support calls, organised, very good communication skills, good written skills, ability to deal with third party suppliers, exceptional customer relations skills, very good written English, very good verbal English, legally authorised to work in the UK with no time restrictions and live within a 20 mile radius of Tunbridge Wells.

Qualifications required

5 GCSEs at A*-D, including English and Maths, or equivalent.

Future prospects

Progression to IT Support Technician / Network Engineer, 2nd Line, 3rd Line and Field engineer.

Things to consider

Desk and office based most time spent on phone to existing customers. The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
