Main role/ responsibilities 
•    Provide 1st Line Support for all Business System including XSYS and all associated hardware
•    Ensure that the IT support phone line is answered promptly
•    Ensure that the Technical E-mail inbox is cleared and all completed issues are filed
•    Ensure that all queries to the Technical E-mail address are replied to within one hour, either with a resolution or notification that the issue needs to be referred to 2nd/3rd line support
•    Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with existing IT procedures
•    Gather all necessary information to pass to 2nd/3rd line for escalation
•    Detail and document all fixes/workarounds and store on IT Guides folder
•    Carry out work as directed by the IT Manager as required
•    Ensure that all equipment requests are dealt with promptly and that the relevant records are accurate and updated as required
•    Diagnosing and resolving technical issues
•    Undertaking small- to medium-sized IT projects as instructed by the IT manager
•    Providing desktop support for all installed applications
•    Setup and configuration of new Desktops/Laptops/Phone Scanners/Motorola Scanners
•    Installing and updating of authorised software
•    Monitoring and maintaining Patch Management/Anti-Virus Software
•    Completing internal user moves, including phone moves
•    Ensuring all logs for equipment and users are maintained
•    Ensuring that software licensing is recorded and maintained
•    Managing users on Active Directory/E-Mail/XSYS – both creating, editing and deleting as required
•    Keeping Server Room and IT Office tidy at all times
•    Preparing documents, meeting materials and correspondence
•    Ensuring that a high level of customer service and support is provided for all internal and external customers

Things to consider

The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Training provider

Approximately 11% of training takes place in the QA learning centre classroom. 9% is done in the workplace, through online training, face-to-face meetings with your QA Technical Skills Coach, or developing your portfolio. The remaining time will be spent on your workplace activity.
