    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

A dual role learning both sides of the business Kitchen and Front of House, you will specialise in one of these areas during your qualification.

Your duties will include:

  • Food Preparation
  • Cooking a range of menu items to include cakes and biscuits.
  • Adhering to Food Safety policies
  • Adhering to Health & Safety Policies 
  • Providing excellent Customer Service at all times
  • Contributing to the daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
  • Learning how to make a range of coffees and other drinks.
  • Learn how to take orders and use the till system.
  • Serve food and drinks to the tables.
  • Assist during events at the site.

No previous qualifications required. 

Future prospects

You will be working towards a full time role should one be available at the end of the Apprenticeship.

You will be required to work varied shifts which will include weekends.

About the employer

Hampton Ferry hosts a number of fundraising and social activities throughout the year. We have three riverside meadows, a lawn and beer garden, so there is plenty of room for some great outdoor events. Our dining room seats 60 and is available for private parties throughout the year.
