    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Under clear guidance from the Teaching and Learning Team via the line manager, the tasks will include:

  • Timely preparation of display resources in line with OFSTED framework.
  • Regularly maintain and change displays in all areas.
  • Preparation of teaching materials, worksheets, booklets, etc.
  • Keeping a record of relevant stock for Teaching and Learning resources and order supplies as and when required.
  • Liaising with other staff regarding projects/events to support cross curricular links.
  • Filming and photography (This will be required for publicity and marketing).
  • To undertake duties in supporting the safeguarding of students as required
  • To undertake any other reasonable duty which might from time to time be requested by the Line Manager or Teaching and Learning Team.
  • Work in a professional manner at all times in line with school policies.

Training provider

  • Competency qualification: Apprentices will be required to produce work and build an e-portfolio of evidence through blended learning which will include practical and written knowledge assessments which are carried out in the workplace.   
  • Knowledge qualification is delivered in the classroom on a day release basis over a period of 16 weeks.  The course is completed with written / computerised assessments that are delivered in exam conditions in the classroom.
  • Functional Skills at level 1 in Maths, English and IT delivered in the classroom
  • Employment Rights & Responsibilities are embedded in the competency qualification.
  • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills are delivered via a workbook and completed in the workplace.
