All round general property and grounds maintenance.

Working closely with our Maintenance Manager Rob to keep on top of daily maintenance work e.g. gardening, decorating, general DIY and project work involving basic carpentry, tiling, roofing, fencing etc. 

Spotting areas requiring attention before others spot them, alongside developing a premises improvement plan with your Manager’s support.

Learning about health and safety requirements in the workplace, and occasionally assisting our factory team during busy periods with pre-production assembly line work, and picking and packing goods for our lighting business.

Qualifications required

Good grades in English, Maths and I.T. 

Future prospects

We want our team to be clear on their key roles and spend 80% of their time doing the things they love doing, therefore matching roles to personal strengths. Many people at Serious Readers have progressed to a higher level within their roles or have changed roles.

Things to consider

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the NMW appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
