    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Palms Cafe serve a variety of Middle Eastern Cuisine. As an Apprentice Restaurant Assistant you will be the face of the Coffee Shop welcoming visitors and providing excellent customer service at all times.

On a day to day basis your duties will include:

  • Greet customers, take orders and payments over the counter.
  • Maintain food safety when storing, holding and serving food to customers.
  • Prepare and clear areas for counter/takeaway service.
  • Provide an excellent service to customers and resolve customer service problems where required.
  • Prepare and clear areas for table service, serve food at the table.
  • Prepare and serve hot drinks as well as using specialist equipment.
  • Make wraps and sandwiches in the kitchen
  • Help to setup and close kitchen and service areas.

The ideal candidate will communicate well with others, have good interpersonal skills and be willing to provide outstanding customer service to an extremely varied customer base. The location is accessible by Tram and Bus.

**Please note: Apprenticeship will be paid at National Apprenticeship Wage (£3.50) and then automatically be uplifted to £4 per hour after 4 weeks.
