    Wages explained

    The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
    Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year.
    The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over.
    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

The Main Roles and responsibilities will be:

  • Assisting at the front desk - Welcoming patients and helping to answer their inquiries and giving out prescriptions.
  • Directing and assisting patients around the building.
  • Assisting with basic office duties – filing, photo-copying, shredding, preparing letters for posting, opening mail etc Helping GPs and other staff members when required – taking forms, equipment etc to them if needed.
  • Helping answer the telephone at busy times.
  • Booking appointments and recording basic information on the medical system.
  • Updating spreadsheets and producing basic letters.
  • As the job holder progresses they will be involved in administrative tasks as deemed appropriate.

  • Maths and English GCSE A* - C is preferable but not essential.

The Successful Candidate may have the opportunity to gain a full time position within the company upon completion of the apprenticeship.
