Duties include:

  • Learning and putting into practice coding techniques on live commercial projects.
  • Interpreting customer requirements and designing approaches to implement these into software products.
  • Building web, desktop and server-based applications using a variety of languages, with guidance and assistance.
  • Researching technologies, documenting findings and recommending how these can be used to enhance our products.
  • Maintaining and managing your day to day work records and some server-based routines.

Things to consider

Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. Training provider

Throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship (typically 15 months) you will be required to attend the 3aaa Technology Academy in Cambridge for 16 days of training.

The remainder of your training will be completed in the workplace with your Employer. You will work towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship standard –Software Development Technician.

The qualifications consist of:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if applicable)
  • Knowledge Module 1 – Software Development Methodologies Part 1 (Introduction)
  • Knowledge Module 2 – Programming Part 1 (Introduction)
  • Knowledge Module 1 – Software Development Methodologies Part 2 (Plus Exam)
  • Knowledge Module 2 – Programming Part 2 (Plus Exam)
  • Knowledge Modules are specified by the British Computer Society (BCS)
