Vacancy full description:

Hale Hamilton are recruiting 3 x Engineering Technicians for their manufacturing plant in Uxbridge Middlesex.

You will be working with products that range from military applications to offshore oil & gas.

You will;

  • understand mathematical techniques, formula and calculation involved in the machining processes such as speeds and feeds, calculating angles/tapers, material removal
  • understand the work-holding devices, cutting tools, and setting up procedures, in adequate depth to provide a sound basis for carrying out the activities, correcting faults and ensuring the work output is to the required specification.
  • read and interpret relevant data and documentation used to produce machined components
  • determine the most efficient and effective approach to machine the component using a range of tools, machining process and Techniques
  • select and set up the correct tooling and work holding devices
  • select and use a range of measuring and testing equipment to check components are to the required quality and accuracy
  • produce complex and specialist components as a one off test and trial work piece and/or producing components in small or large batches

Pay/working Hours: £230 per week, 37.5 hours, Mon-Fri

Expected duration of the apprenticeship: 48 months

Things to consider

Can you get to work and college? The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Training provider

Full on the job training to be provided and one day a week college attendance for underpinning knowledge. Candidate will work towards a full Level 3 apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering NVQ, technical certificate, and functional skills, and employment rights and responsibility.
